Section 01
Acceptance of Terms
  • 1.1By accessing, browsing or using legaldictum.in in any manner, you unconditionally agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, our Privacy Policy, our Refund Policy, our Disclaimer, and all applicable laws and regulations of India.
  • 1.2If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must immediately cease using the platform.
  • 1.3These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Legal Dictum. Your continued use of the platform after any modification to these terms constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
  • 1.4Legal Dictum may update these Terms and Conditions, its Privacy Policy, its Refund Policy and its Disclaimer at any time without prior notice. The updated documents will be posted on the platform. Continued use of the platform after any such update constitutes your unconditional acceptance of and agreement to be bound by the updated documents, whether or not you have read them. It is the responsibility of the user to periodically review all of these documents.
  • 1.5The platform is intended solely for users who are 18 years of age or older. By using the platform, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old.
Section 02
Platform Description
  • 2.1Legal Dictum is an online legal education platform providing study material, tests, case notes, daily features and other content for law students, advocates and legal enthusiasts in India.
  • 2.2The platform is provided for educational and informational purposes only. Nothing on this platform constitutes legal advice, and Legal Dictum is not a law firm.
  • 2.3The catalogue of subjects, topics, portals and features is expanded, revised and reorganised on an ongoing basis. Legal Dictum makes no commitment that any particular subject, feature or portal will be available at any given time, or will remain available.
  • 2.4Legal Dictum makes no representation that the platform is appropriate or available for use in jurisdictions outside India.
  • 2.5Legal Dictum reserves the right to modify, suspend or discontinue the platform or any part thereof at any time, temporarily or permanently, with or without notice, and without liability to any user.
Section 03
User Accounts
  • 3.1An account is required to open study pages and tests. Sign-in is currently offered through Google. Legal Dictum may add, change or remove sign-in methods at any time.
  • 3.2You are responsible for the security of the account you use to sign in. Legal Dictum is not responsible for any issues arising from your sign-in provider or from unauthorised access to your sign-in account.
  • 3.3Your account is strictly personal and non-transferable. Sharing your account with any other person is prohibited.
  • 3.4Legal Dictum may limit the number of devices or simultaneous sessions on which an account may be signed in, and may end older sessions automatically when the limit is exceeded.
  • 3.5You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, whether or not authorised by you.
  • 3.6Legal Dictum shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to maintain account security or from unauthorised access to your account.
Section 04
User Conduct
  • 4.1You agree to use the platform only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
  • 4.2You must not attempt to bypass, circumvent or interfere with any access control, security feature, daily limit or authentication mechanism on the platform.
  • 4.3You must not use automated tools, bots, scrapers or any software to access, extract or copy content from the platform.
  • 4.4You must not share, distribute, resell or commercially exploit any content accessed through the platform.
  • 4.5You must not attempt to decompile, reverse engineer or otherwise derive source code from any software used on the platform.
  • 4.6You must not use the platform to engage in any activity that is fraudulent, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory or otherwise objectionable.
  • 4.7Violation of any of the above may result in immediate account termination without notice or refund, and may be reported to appropriate law enforcement authorities.
Section 05
Free Daily Credits
  • 5.1Free (Aspirant) accounts receive a daily allowance of free credits — currently 5 credits per day. A credit opens a study page or a test.
  • 5.2Daily credits reset at midnight IST. Unused daily credits do not carry over to the following day under any circumstances.
  • 5.3An item opened with a credit generally remains open without further charge until the daily reset. After the reset, opening it again requires a fresh credit.
  • 5.4Certain lightweight features — such as passage peeks inside a test review — carry their own separate daily allowances for free accounts (currently 10 peeks per day). These likewise reset at midnight IST.
  • 5.5The current day's featured items (such as the case of the day and concept of the day) and the currently featured weekly test are presently offered without a credit charge. Archived items from earlier days draw on the daily credit allowance. This is a promotional configuration that may be modified or withdrawn at any time.
  • 5.6Legal Dictum may from time to time grant promotional bonus allowances — for example, an additional daily credit on sustained daily use of the platform. Any such bonus is a gratuitous benefit, may be modified or withdrawn at any time, and creates no entitlement.
  • 5.7Credits have no monetary value, are not purchasable, are non-transferable, non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other consideration.
  • 5.8Credits confer limited, temporary access only. They do not confer ownership, licence or any other rights over content beyond that access.
  • 5.9Legal Dictum reserves the right to modify at any time and without notice: the number of daily credits, the credit cost of any item or feature, peek and other allowances, access windows and reset timing.
5A. The Exam Hall on a free account
  • 5A.1A free (Aspirant) account may open past question papers and live test windows in the Exam Hall. Each of these costs 2 credits from the daily allowance in Section 5, rather than the single credit a study page costs. If fewer than 2 credits remain for the day, the item does not open.
  • 5A.2The mock, subject and chapter tests, and Build Your Own Test, are not available on a free account for credits. They require an active Scholar plan, an active Scholar (Student plan), or an active Exam Hall Pass.
  • 5A.3An Exam Hall Pass, and the Scholar plans that include it, open the whole Exam Hall without any credit charge. See Section 7.
  • 5A.4The credit cost of any Exam Hall item, and which items a free account may open at all, may be changed at any time under rule 5.9.
Section 06
Content Access
  • 6.1Access to study pages and tests requires a signed-in account and either an available daily credit or an active Scholar plan.
  • 6.2Content is served through a secure access system. Attempting to access content by any means other than through the platform's authorised access flow is strictly prohibited.
  • 6.3Access is strictly individual and account-bound. Sharing links does not grant access to other users.
  • 6.4Pages you have opened may remain readable on your device while offline as a convenience. This is not a download right and may be withdrawn or technically limited at any time.
  • 6.5Legal Dictum reserves the right to revoke access to any content at any time without prior notice and without liability, including in cases of suspected misuse or breach of these terms.
Important: Legal Dictum retains all intellectual property rights over all content on the platform. Credits and plans purchase temporary access only — not ownership.
Section 07
Aspirant and Scholar
Aspirant (Free)
  • 7.1Every signed-in account without an active plan is an Aspirant account. Aspirants receive the free daily credit allowance described in Section 5.
  • 7.2Aspirant access to any item lasts until the daily reset, after which a fresh credit is required.
  • 7.3Certain features — including the detailed reasoning on test questions, unlimited passage peeks and past test results — are reserved for paid accounts and are not available to an Aspirant.
  • 7.3AThe deepest layer of each subject (Level 4 and Level 5) and the specialised subjects (as listed and updated by Legal Dictum from time to time) are open to full Scholar only. An Aspirant and a Scholar (Student plan) holder can still SEE these items listed in a portal, but the page or test will not open: they are asked to upgrade. No credit is charged for a refused item.
Scholar (Paid Plan)
  • 7.4Scholar is a paid plan purchased for a fixed duration (currently offered in 1, 3, 6 and 12 month durations) by a one-time payment. Plans are not auto-renewed and no recurring charge is ever taken.
  • 7.5An active Scholar plan removes daily credit limits: study pages and tests open without spending credits, and passage peeks are unlimited, for the duration of the plan.
  • 7.6Scholar accounts receive the detailed reasoning on test questions and retain visibility of their past test results, as described in Section 8.
  • 7.7A plan starts when the payment is confirmed and runs for its full stated duration. Purchasing a further plan while one is active extends the existing plan by the new duration.
  • 7.8When a plan ends, the account reverts automatically to Aspirant access rules. Legal Dictum is not obliged to give notice of expiry, though it may choose to do so. Any restoration, grace or goodwill extension after expiry is entirely at Legal Dictum's discretion and creates no entitlement.
  • 7.9Plan durations, pricing, inclusions and availability may be changed at any time. Changes do not affect the remaining duration of a plan already purchased.
Scholar (Student plan)
  • 7.10Scholar (Student plan) is a lower-priced paid plan, offered at half the price of full Scholar at every duration. It opens everything a Scholar plan opens except: (a) Level 4 and Level 5 content; and (b) certain specialised subjects, as listed and updated by Legal Dictum from time to time. The Exam Hall is included. It is offered in all portals except the Higher Judiciary and specific-exams portals.
  • 7.11A Student-plan holder may upgrade to full Scholar at any time, and an Exam Hall Pass holder may buy either plan at any time. On such an upgrade the unused portion of what was already paid is calculated pro-rata and adjusted against the price of the new plan. The old window is thereby spent: the new plan then runs for its full duration from the date of the upgrade, and any Exam Hall Pass is closed (the plan includes the hall in any event). The remaining days are not carried over in addition to the money adjustment.
  • 7.11ABecause Legal Dictum does not refund, the adjustment can only ever be carried forward. A plan whose price is less than or equal to the amount of the adjustment is therefore not offered on an upgrade, and is not shown. The buyer always pays the difference; no balance is ever returned in cash or held as a wallet balance.
  • 7.12No downgrades. A plan may be renewed, or exchanged upward, but never downward. While a full Scholar plan is running, the Student plan and the Exam Hall Pass are not offered and cannot be bought. While a Student plan is running, the Exam Hall Pass is not offered and cannot be bought (the plan already includes the hall); the Student plan may be renewed, or upgraded to full Scholar under rule 7.11. An Exam Hall Pass may be renewed, or exchanged for either plan under rule 7.11.
  • 7.13The specific subjects reserved for full Scholar, and the portals in which each plan is offered, may be changed at any time. Changes do not reduce access already granted for the remaining duration of a plan already purchased.
Exam Hall Pass
  • 7.14The Exam Hall Pass is a paid pass that opens the Exam Hall only. It is purchased for a fixed duration by a one-time payment (currently offered as 1 week, 1 month and 2 months). It is not auto-renewed and no recurring charge is ever taken.
  • 7.15While a pass is active it opens the past question papers, the live test windows, the mock, subject and chapter tests, and Build Your Own Test, and none of these draw on the daily credit allowance.
  • 7.16The pass does not open the study pages, the bare act sections, or any other part of the platform outside the Exam Hall. Outside the Exam Hall, a pass holder remains on Aspirant access rules and the daily credit allowance described in Section 5.
  • 7.17An active Scholar plan and an active Scholar (Student plan) already include the Exam Hall for the whole of their duration. A pass is therefore neither required nor sold to an account holding either plan.
  • 7.18A pass starts when the payment is confirmed and runs for its full stated duration. Purchasing a further pass while one is active extends the existing pass by the new duration. When it ends, Exam Hall access reverts automatically to the Aspirant rules in Section 5A.
  • 7.19Pass durations, pricing, inclusions and availability may be changed at any time. Changes do not affect the remaining duration of a pass already purchased.
Section 08
Test Content Rules
  • 8.1Opening a test spends a daily credit on an Aspirant account, except the currently featured weekly test, which is presently offered without charge (see clause 5.5). Scholar accounts open tests without spending credits.
  • 8.2Test attempts run within a timed window. When the window ends, the attempt is submitted or closed as it stands.
  • 8.3If an attempt is abandoned, exited or interrupted for any reason — including but not limited to technical issues, browser closure, loss of internet connectivity or user choice — the attempt is recorded as it stands and any credit spent is not restored. Legal Dictum bears no responsibility for interruptions during a test.
  • 8.4After submission, concise explanations are shown to all users. Detailed reasoning and trace-back into the study material are reserved for Scholar accounts.
  • 8.5Past test results remain visible on Scholar accounts. On Aspirant accounts, result visibility may be limited to the same day.
  • 8.6Legal Dictum does not warrant that test questions, answers or explanations are free from error. See Section 12 (Content Accuracy).
Section 09
Records and Retention
  • 9.1The platform keeps operational records — including content-open records, daily credit usage, test attempts and results — to run daily limits, show your history and operate the service.
  • 9.2Operational records are retained for as long as reasonably necessary for these purposes. Legal Dictum may prune, archive or delete operational records from time to time, and bears no liability for records removed in the ordinary course.
  • 9.3Purchase and payment records are retained as required by applicable financial, tax and accounting laws in India, and are not deleted on account deletion to the extent the law requires their retention.
  • 9.4Retention of personal data is further described in the Privacy Policy, which prevails on questions of personal data.
  • 9.5Legal Dictum reserves the right to retain anonymised or aggregated data derived from any records indefinitely.
Section 10
States of Interest
  • 10.1Users may optionally add states of interest to their profile. This unlocks the display of state-focused portals as they become available.
  • 10.2States of interest may be added, changed or removed by the user at any time from My Space.
  • 10.3This preference is used for content personalisation and may inform communications relevant to those states. It is not shared with third parties.
Section 11
Intellectual Property
  • 11.1Legal Dictum retains all intellectual property rights over all content on the platform, including but not limited to study material, tests, questions, explanations, case notes, daily features and all other materials, whether original or curated.
  • 11.2Users are granted a strictly limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to access content solely for personal, non-commercial study purposes during the applicable access period.
  • 11.3This licence does not permit downloading, copying, reproducing, screenshotting, recording, sharing, distributing, publishing, selling, sublicensing or using content for any commercial purpose.
  • 11.4Any use of content beyond what is expressly permitted constitutes a breach of these terms and an infringement of Legal Dictum's intellectual property rights.
  • 11.5Legal Dictum reserves the right to take all available legal remedies against any user who infringes its intellectual property rights, including seeking injunctive relief and damages.
  • 11.6The Legal Dictum name, logo and branding are the exclusive property of Legal Dictum and may not be used without prior written consent.
Section 12
Content Accuracy Disclaimer
  • 12.1All content on the platform is provided for educational and informational purposes only. Legal Dictum makes no representation or warranty, express or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness, correctness, reliability, suitability or timeliness of any content on the platform.
  • 12.2Laws, regulations, procedures and legal positions change over time. Content on the platform may not reflect the most current legal position. Users are responsible for independently verifying the currency and accuracy of any information.
  • 12.3Test questions, answer keys, explanations and study material may contain errors, omissions or outdated information. Legal Dictum shall not be liable for any consequences arising from reliance on such content.
  • 12.4Legal Dictum expressly disclaims any liability for exam results, career outcomes, professional consequences or any other outcomes arising from the use of content on this platform.
  • 12.5Nothing on this platform constitutes legal advice. Users should consult a qualified legal professional for advice on specific legal matters.
Important: Performance on Legal Dictum tests is not a guarantee of performance in any actual examination. Legal Dictum is not responsible for any exam result, selection outcome or career consequence.
Section 13
Payments and Refunds
  • 13.1All payments are processed through Razorpay. Legal Dictum does not store payment card or bank details.
  • 13.2All prices are in Indian Rupees (INR), are as displayed at the time of checkout, and may be modified at any time.
  • 13.3Scholar plans are one-time payments for a fixed duration. They are not subscriptions: nothing renews automatically and no further charge is ever taken without a fresh purchase by you.
  • 13.4Because plans unlock the full library the moment payment succeeds, purchases are final except in the situations set out in the Refund Policy — duplicate payment, payment captured without activation, and the 48-hour goodwill window for accidental purchases — or as required by mandatory provisions of applicable Indian law.
  • 13.5No partial or pro-rated refund is available for unused time on a plan, and no refund is available for dissatisfaction with content quality, accuracy or availability, or with any examination outcome.
  • 13.6Users are responsible for renewing plans before expiry if continued Scholar access is desired. Legal Dictum bears no liability for loss of access due to failure to renew.
  • 13.7For refunds or payment issues, write to support@legaldictum.in from the email address of your Legal Dictum account, quoting the payment reference from your Razorpay receipt.
  • 13.8In the event of a payment dispute, users must first follow the Grievance Redressal process in Section 20 before approaching any payment gateway, bank or consumer forum, save for rights that cannot be contractually restricted under Indian law.
Section 14
Legal Dictum's Right to Modify
  • 14.1Legal Dictum reserves the absolute right to update, modify, correct, remove, replace or restructure any content on the platform at any time, without prior notice and without any liability whatsoever to any user.
  • 14.2Legal Dictum does not guarantee that any specific content will remain available, accessible or unchanged for any period of time.
  • 14.3In the event that content is removed or made unavailable, Legal Dictum may, entirely at its own discretion, offer replacement content or other accommodation. Legal Dictum is under no obligation to do so.
  • 14.4Legal Dictum reserves the right to modify, suspend or shut down the platform entirely, temporarily or permanently, at any time and without liability.
  • 14.5Legal Dictum reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. The updated terms will be posted on this page. Continued use of the platform after posting constitutes binding acceptance.
Section 15
Termination of Access
  • 15.1Legal Dictum reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate any user account at its sole and absolute discretion, at any time, without prior notice, and without any liability — including but not limited to cases of misuse, breach of these terms, fraudulent activity, suspected account sharing, circumvention of access controls or any other reason Legal Dictum deems appropriate.
  • 15.2Upon termination, all access to content is immediately and permanently revoked. No refund of any plan fee is guaranteed or obligated, save as mandatory law requires.
  • 15.3Users may request account deletion at any time through the Delete Account option on the Contact page at legaldictum.in/static/contact.html. Deletion is processed manually and may take up to 15 days. Deletion is permanent and irreversible. Any remaining plan duration, content access and test history will be permanently lost. No refund will be issued, save as mandatory law requires.
  • 15.4Termination does not affect Legal Dictum's right to pursue any claims it may have against the user for breach of these terms.
Section 16
Limitation of Liability
  • 16.1The platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
  • 16.2Legal Dictum does not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or free of viruses or other harmful components.
  • 16.3Legal Dictum shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary damages of any kind arising from or in connection with the use of or inability to use the platform, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, loss of goodwill or loss of opportunity.
  • 16.4Legal Dictum shall not be liable for any failure, interruption or delay in the performance of the platform caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including failures of third-party services (see Section 18).
  • 16.5To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Indian law, Legal Dictum's total aggregate liability to any user for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the platform shall not exceed the total amount paid by that user to Legal Dictum in the 3 months immediately preceding the claim.
  • 16.6Legal Dictum is not liable for any exam result, selection outcome, career consequence or professional outcome arising from the use of content on the platform.
Section 17
Indemnification
  • 17.1You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Legal Dictum, its owners, officers, employees, agents and representatives from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to:
  • 17.2Your use or misuse of the platform or any content accessed through it.
  • 17.3Your breach of any provision of these Terms and Conditions.
  • 17.4Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights.
  • 17.5Any claim by a third party arising from your use of the platform.
Section 18
Third Party Service Providers
  • 18.1Legal Dictum uses third-party service providers for authentication, data storage, payment processing and other platform functions. The identity of such providers may change at any time without notice.
  • 18.2Legal Dictum is not liable for any failure, error, interruption, data breach, data loss or data practices of any third-party service provider, regardless of whether such provider is named in our Privacy Policy or not, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
  • 18.3Legal Dictum is not responsible for payment failures, processing errors or transaction delays caused by payment service providers. Users transact with third-party payment providers at their own risk.
  • 18.4Data transmitted to third-party providers is governed by their respective privacy policies. Legal Dictum may access data stored on third-party platforms as part of normal platform operations but is not responsible for how such providers store, process or protect that data.
  • 18.5Legal Dictum may offer various authentication methods and may add, change or remove authentication methods at any time without notice.
  • 18.6Users are encouraged to review the privacy policies and terms of any third-party service they interact with through the platform.
Section 19
Force Majeure
  • 19.1Legal Dictum shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to:
  • 19.2Failures or outages of any third-party service providers, hosting infrastructure or internet service providers.
  • 19.3Acts of God, natural disasters, floods, fire, earthquakes or other natural events.
  • 19.4Acts of government, war, civil unrest, strikes, lockdowns, epidemics, pandemics or public health emergencies.
  • 19.5Cyberattacks, hacking, distributed denial of service attacks or other malicious acts by third parties.
  • 19.6In the event of a force majeure event, Legal Dictum will use reasonable efforts to restore service but bears no liability for any loss, damage or inconvenience caused.
Section 20
Grievance Redressal
  • 20.1In accordance with the Information Technology Act 2000, the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, Legal Dictum has designated a Grievance Officer to address user complaints.
  • 20.2Grievance Officer: Legal Dictum
    Contact: legaldictum.in/static/contact.html → Raise a Grievance
  • 20.3Legal Dictum will endeavour to resolve all grievances within 15 days of receipt.
  • 20.4Before initiating any legal, mediation or consumer forum proceedings, users must first raise a grievance and allow 7 working days for resolution, save for rights that cannot be contractually restricted under Indian law. Failure to follow this process may be raised by Legal Dictum in any subsequent proceedings.
Section 21
Dispute Resolution
  • 21.1These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India.
  • 21.2In the event of any dispute, claim or controversy arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the use of the platform, the following mandatory three-step process shall apply:
  • 21.3Step 1 — Internal Grievance (Mandatory): The user must first raise a grievance through Section 20. Legal Dictum will endeavour to resolve the complaint within 15 days. This step is mandatory and must be exhausted before proceeding to Step 2.
  • 21.4Step 2 — Mediation: If unresolved after Step 1, both parties agree to attempt mediation at the Patna High Court Mediation Centre or through SAMA (online mediation platform) before approaching any court. Mediation shall be attempted within 30 days of referral. The costs of mediation shall be shared equally between the parties unless otherwise agreed.
  • 21.5Step 3 — Courts: If mediation fails or is not concluded within 30 days, all disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts at Patna, Bihar, India.
  • 21.6Notwithstanding the above, nothing in this clause restricts a user's statutory right to approach the appropriate District Consumer Forum under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 in their district of residence for consumer disputes, as this right cannot be contractually waived under Indian law, nor any right of a Data Principal under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023.
By using Legal Dictum, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and unconditionally agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions in their entirety.
